Construction
The construction of WaterShed has provided a rich learning experience for the Maryland team. Modularity and transportation were central considerations in building WaterShed. The structural framework was assembled in a factory in just three days. The house framework was loaded onto trailers, allowing the team to test drive the plans for moving the completed house to the competition. With guidance from faculty and mentors, the student team advanced the construction of the house. In partnership with industry mentors, suppliers, and subcontractors, the team incorporated insulation and cladding, electrical, mechanical and plumbing and living systems, culminating with interior and exterior finishes.
