The nation’s first gas light utility, Constellation Energy, has evolved into one of the largest publicly traded energy companies in the country. The company’s power generation assets include a wide variety of sources including nuclear, renewable, and alternative sources. In 2011 Constellation Energy completed Maryland’s first commercial wind energy project, Criterion Wind, and will soon begin construction of one of the country’s largest commercial solar installations in western Maryland. Headquartered in Baltimore, the company’s customer-centric business model separates Constellation Energy from its competitors.
